Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shankar is a British and American sitar player. She also plays music. She was the first person within her age bracket to receive the British House of Commons Staff. Anoushka Shankar is an emerging young star of the Indian sitar. She's the child of Ravi Shankar and a former student. Born in London in 1982, and was a young girl who travelled from London as well as New Delhi. At New Delhi, she made her debut when she was only thirteen years of age. Later she moved into Encinitas CA where she graduated from High School with honours in 1999. Anouskha is an aspiring young lady, however she's got an remarkable career in the field of singing and recording. For a long time she performs regularly alongside her father. Her debut solo album, Anourag, was released in 1998. The album was titled Live at Carnegie Hall, a Grammy-nominated album a year following. Since she's performed at many of the biggest stages around the world, her career on stage has been expansive. Her career extends beyond the realm of music. She released Bapi the Love of My Life in 2002. This is a picture biography that pays tribute to her dad Ravi Shankar. She has also acted in a number of films. In 2003, she played the role in the film Dance Like a Man where she portrays an aspiring Bharat Natyam dancer. Anoushka Shakar's professional career will only continue to grow and develop. At the age of nine, she began her studies in music under her father, who made her first on the sitar 4 years later at his 75th birthday celebration in Delhi. The tour included appearances at Carnegie Hall and at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD festivals, as well as making recordings alongside George Harrison. In the end, The House of Commons Shield was presented in her honor by the British Parliament in recognition of being the top Asian Arts musician. She is the only female and the youngest winner of this award.
